*A NOTE ABOUT THE 2011 PAYOUT:

Dear Friend of the Boys & Girls Club:

Thank you for being willing to support the Mathews Boys & Girls Club Flounder Tournament this year. We sincerely appreciate your support in helping us put the Mathews Boys & Girls Club on sound financial footing.

In years past, we have happily paid out 100% of revenue generated by boat registrations to the winners of this tournament. And the revenue generated from event sponsorships has gone directly to the kids. Unfortunately, as a result of the current economic climate, revenue from tournament sponsorships is significantly lower this year. But the $200,000 B&GC operating budget remains the same. Thus, this year’s event will see a 50/50 split of the boat registration revenue between the club and tournament winners.

While unfortunate, we felt this change was necessary in order to accomplish the main goal of putting on this event, which is to raise dollars in support of the youth of Mathews County. And every dollar raised from this event does go directly to the kids of this county. Thanks to the hard work of tournament volunteers, there is no administrative overhead associated with this event.

On behalf of the youth at our Mathews Boys & Girls Club, please accept our thanks and appreciation for your support. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula continues to be “The Positive Place for Kids”.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Putt
